Well it was ugly but we made it this far
Some have gone but I forget who they are
Now the hangovers are worse but we get through them fine
Sleeping late but were not lazy
Getting older but were still crazy
I’m so glad that I have these friends o mine

Pushing down on the gas Luke manouvered his car over the painted lines on the tar road and overtook a car cruising along like a snail. It was a damn good stretch of road too. Beneath him the seat hummed along with the sound of the engine, revving and roaring as Luke hit the gas. He eased up a bit once he had over taken the other car and relaxed further into the seat. His '67 Ford Shelby GT500 was his baby. Come on, what real man didn't treat his car like a woman? And hell after all this car had cost his parents Luke was going to treat it like gold. By gold, he meant driving it fast and furious. Luke had a hold on the steering wheel with one elbow resting on the car door with the window down, whilst with his other hand he held on a bit more firmly.
After that long stretch of road Luke pulled up at the robot, looking casually out of his window at the surrounding shops. One thing that caught his eye was a Starbucks just sitting there...it was practically calling his name. A big grin spread across Luke's face and as the robot changed green he turned over into the turning lane with no other cars coming up behind him and headed off down the street to find a parking space. He was early on his way to working off his probation at Bridlewood, he had some time, right? Just a quick stop.
Luke reversed into a parking space with his blue Shelby, the racing stripes just a bonus from some money he'd earned working at a CD store. Maybe he'd earn enough to buy some new seats once he got his paycheck from Cherry Copper. He shifted the gear to "P" for park. The engine died down once he removed the car keys and opened his door. Luke stepped out onto the pavement wearing his usual black beanie with the bold grey and white stripe. His black jacket suited him well, with a printed white t-shirt underneath that. He was stepping out in some black shoes and dark jeans. These were hid old jeans. He'd learnt the other day not to wear anything fancy. Plus he had some clothes to change into once he got to the stables - ones that were made for mucking out stalls.
He headed off to the Starbucks, glancing over the faces that he passed on the sidewalk. All of them were unfamiliar to him. Nothing changed once he got into the Starbucks, except for recognizing the guy behind the counter. Luke got around the night scene and with those connections he met a lot of people working behind the counters, or sometimes passing them by on the sidewalk. He nodded to the other guy and a casual smile before standing back to look at the coffee menu hanging up above the long counter. There wasn't a hell of a big line so Luke figured it would be easy going and he'd get to the stables on time. He decided on a cafe mocha and just as he stepped towards the line, not looking where he was going, he just caught himself before ramming into another man.
"Crap, sorry man. After you."
Luke only then looked at the face and recognized who he had just nearly run into.
"Would you look at that. Tequila's owner, right?"
By Tequila Luke was referring to the horse. All 17hh hands of a mare that Luke had had the honour of mucking out her stall. Not being used to horses, Luke had actually found himself intimidated of handling such a large horse, even if it was only to take her out so he could muck the stall out.
It started out at a coffee shop in a most unlikely town
And there were casualties but we made it out anyhow
We stuck together through the good and bad times
Pulp Fiction, Blazing Saddles, and Fast Times
